Apple fans eagerly await the launch of the iPhone 17 later this year. But a recent leak of dummy models has some iPhone users shaking their heads.
Courtesy of tech insider Sonny Dickson, a series of photos have leaked on X showing the metal 'dummy models' of what the iPhone 17’s camera might potentially look like.
"Here’s your first look at the iPhone 17 dummies, Thoughts?" he posted.

The photos show four different designs: one with a vertical dual-lens setup and three featuring rectangular camera bars, each with either one or three lenses.
Dummy units like these often appear ahead of phone launches. They're based on schematics sourced from Apple’s supply chain and are used by manufacturers to prepare cases and accessories in advance.

These leaked photos seem to vary in size which led some keen-eyed fans to believe that the thinner design could be the rumoured iPhone Air.
However, Apple fans are not happy and have dubbed the phone as 'ugly'.
"There is no way a human being could like this camera design," one user wrote.
"Done with iPhone," another complained whilst another remarked: "These are the ugliest iPhones in history. Wow."

Someone else chimed in: “Hate the camera bump.”
According to Forbes, the new model might feature an Action Button instead of the traditional Ring/Mute slider.
It appears that all iPhone 17 models - except for the base version - will feature a camera bump stretching across the width of the phone, which some have accused as 'copying' the same design that's displayed on Google’s Pixel lineup.

The tech giant seems to have taken a different direction with the raised camera bump section and diverted away from the square shape like the iPhone 16 Pro models.
Meanwhile, the speculated Air model looks pretty big, with a screen size sitting somewhere between the Pro and Pro Max.
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, its display is expected to measure 6.6 inches. However, it’s expected to include modern upgrades, such as a 120Hz refresh rate and Dynamic Island support. Gurman added that the iPhone 17 Air is expected to be a lighter, thinner option with less powerful hardware.
Even with its slimmer design, battery life is apparently not going to take a hit - which is positive considering how iOS updates were previously blamed for draining batteries faster.

That said, one tech fan read into the 'good battery life' that Apple promised and replied: "What does that even mean? It's thinner, so it's certainly not a 'better battery life' than we currently get."
Of course, Apple won’t confirm anything until September, when the official launch is expected. So, until then, we'll have to wait and see.
