Man 'raw-dogged' $13,000 flight for 14 hours and felt like he was 'losing his mind'

Don't try this at home (or in the air)

There are some bizarre internet trends out there, and while some can be uncomfortable, others like the Tide Pod challenge and Hot Chip trend can be downright dangerous.

Another that is bizarrely popular but can be equally hazardous is the 'raw-dogging' trend on flights.

The basic idea is that you take your standard flight, but instead of making use of the fancy entertainment systems, complimentary refreshments, and even the free bag of nuts, you go without it all. More than this, raw-dogging flights also means you aren't allowed to sleep - you simply stare into the abyss.

This airplane-related trend 'took off' around May 2024 when a TikTok star from London claimed that they flew on a seven-hour flight just staring at the map screen.

It was quickly capitalized on by Manchester City footballer Erling Haaland saying he 'raw-dogged' a seven-hour flight.

Some seem to be pretending to do it just for the clout, with someone saying they raw-dogged a 17-hour flight, despite clearly being on a Ryanair plane and the airline not flying that far. YouTube creator Isaiah Stoferrahn clearly wasn't put off and decided to raw-dog a $13,000 plane ticket on a 14-hour flight. While most of us would be making use of Emirates' world-class service and the luxury ticket, Stoferrahn decided he'd raw-dog the entire thing. It wasn't long until he regretted his decision.

Flying from Austin to Dubai, the YouTuber explained rules that included no reading, movies, or music, as well as no eating or drinking aside from water, and the big one of no sleep.

With an impressive menu that boasted dishes like pan-seared Chilean sea bass and prime beef fillet, we were already salivating.

After six hours, he admitted he was not only hungry but incredibly tired. It's okay Isaiah, only eight hours left.

When he reached the 11-hour milestone, a shattered Stoferrahn said: "I'm not going to lie, I am struggling."

He then narrated, "Struggling is a massive understatement. When I come up with ideas like this, I really convince myself that it's not going to be that difficult at all."

"Man that could not be further from the truth, it felt like the minutes passing by were hours."

Another part of his task was to run a mile on the plane and beat his friend Matt James' time of 18 minutes and 15 seconds. Running a mile on a plane isn't a particularly conventional time, with Isaiah concluding, "I think I'm losing my mind a little bit."

Still, he eventually landed in Dubai after raw-dogging the whole thing.

The comments were filled with shock and awe that Stoferrahn pulled this off, with one person writing: "I mean this in the most respectful way possible, YOU MAD MAN! I would be balling out the food and champers especially for that money 😭."

Another gobsmacked viewer added: "Bro finna risk his life for content."

Someone else concluded: "Isaiah you lost your mind a long time ago."

Although Stoferrahn drank water, the hardcore raw-doggers won't drink anything on these long-haul flights, which can lead to some serious medical concerns.

While Isaiah managed to pull it off, we'd recommend that you don't copy everything you see on YouTube.
