One airline has proposed the end of uncomfortable legroom and limited seats with an innovative new design, but it comes with an unfortunately hilarious side effect that everyone has spotted immediately.
There's nothing worse than being stuck in an uncomfortable seat for a long haul flight, an no amount of 'rawdogging' in the best seat on the plane will help you through the excruciatingly lengthy experience.
While it might not be quite as luxurious as what some airlines provide as the 'class above first', plane manufacturing giant Airbus has began work with a Spanish start up company to make the in-flight experience of passengers more comfortable, and more profitable too.

Led by designs from Chaise Longue, the new seat configuration takes what they call a 'double decker' format where rows are segmented into blocks of two, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Within these blocks, the front row will be elevated above and slightly ahead of the rear one, leaving them effectively sat on a different level and 'on top' of the row behind them.
On first thought this might seem even more cramped and uncomfortable compared to the previous standard layout, but it actually gives passengers far more leg room and personal space - especially if you find yourself upon the elevated row.

It all sounds great in theory, but there is one unfortunate catch that seemingly everyone on the internet has spotted within moments of viewing the unusual seating configuration.
"My head might be on fart level with a stranger?" questions one user on X. "Pass."
Another adds: "Imagine someone farting and it just hits you 2 mins after in the face," and that's definitely not something that you'd want even on the shortest flight in the world.
You wonder if that same thought had entered the minds of designers at Chaise Longue when putting together this layout, but it's certainly an unhappy accident if it wasn't taken into consideration.

Beyond the notion of passing wind, others have also pointed out what they believe to be safety concerns in the event of a plane crash - which are becoming increasingly common in recent months.
"I love how everybody bringing up homegirl being in the fart zone AND being completely squished if the plane crashes," points out one quoted post, adding that "this is just a horrible idea around."

You'd have to believe that the designers will have had safety as their primary concern here, and the design will most likely have been structured to avoid the event of the raised seats crashing down into those underneath, but it's certainly something that is bound to enter your head if you're in the rear row staring upwards at a seat above you.
One user even goes as far to point out that "all I'm picturing is final destination," and you could definitely see a situation like this appearing in the gory film series.
