Cybertruck leaves people horrified after emitting awful noise driving through puddle

We'd be a little concerned if our truck started making this kind of noise.

Tesla has been marketing the Cybertruck as a hardy off-road vehicle, an electric truck that can take basically anything you throw at it, but a new video makes that look slightly suspect.

An X user uploaded a short clip of their friend driving a Cybertruck through a large mud-filled puddle in Kane Creek Road, Utah, exactly the sort of thing that a regular car probably couldn't handle.

In the video posted by Kyle Field (@mrkylefield) the Cybertruck seems to make it through fine, albeit a little slowly, but after it emerges from the wash it quickly starts making a pretty horrendous noise.

It's like a loud clanking, the sort of sound that would definitely have you screeching to a halt in your own car, and the video ends pretty quickly as the car slows to a stop.

Unsurprisingly, people in the comments under the post were more than a little concerned by the noise the Cybertruck made, with theories bouncing around about what had happened.

One observer claimed: "It shorted out", while another joked that their "almost 30-year-old stock CR-V would legit put this thing to shame". Whenever a Cybertruck goes wrong, after all, there are plenty of people waiting to enjoy the fireworks.

Still, in amongst all the mockery and guesswork, one person asked the simple question everyone wanted answered: "Did it break?"

Field replied to this by saying: "The front part of the wheel well liner disconnected and started rubbing on the wheel. I pulled it back and field repaired it like you do."

So it would seem like this was far from a disastrous mechanical issue.

What sounds like it could be something majorly wrong with a motor or drivetrain is in fact just a bit of panelling coming loose and flapping against one of the wheels, which would indeed be a fairly straightforward fix.

So, it's not like the Cybertruck broke down completely - if something can be repaired on the go, it's hardly a catastrophic an issue.

This therefore won't likely be a real problem when it comes to Tesla continuing to promote the Cybertruck's off-road capabilities, as demonstrated by a recent video where it sent the truck up a crazy rock climb called Hell's Gate, on the Hell's Revenge trail in Moab, Utah.

The video is a stunner and really shows how, in the right conditions, the Cybertruck can excel and really show off its sheer power.
