Streamer Jack Doherty has been causing a stir amongst Kick viewers and social media users alike after live-streaming a car crash.

The 20-year-old crashed a high-end $20,0000 McLaren sports car and broadcast the incident to his 185,000 viewers.

Despite the serious nature of the event, Doherty still ensured to catch every gnarly detail on camera.

While the original live-stream has since been removed from Kick, Doherty posted clips of the incident to his X (formerly Twitter) profile to his 111.3k followers. This included showing footage of Michael, now receiving stitches, and a clip of both of them escaping the wreckage of the crash.

When posted online, these short clips sparked fury in the comments. Many X users stated that the Kick streamer ‘should be in jail’ in response to the incident.

If small clips of the crash were enough to make viewers angry, it should come as no surprise that the full-length YouTube video on the incident has had a similar result.

Doherty uploaded a 10:52 minute video on the full incident, entitled, ‘we almost died…’ As of writing, in the 17 hours it has been available, the video has already amassed over 137,899 views and thousands of comments.

Just like on social media, those comments reveal a sea of angry viewers, calling for Doherty to face consequences for the reckless driving.

One YouTuber user exclaimed, “This is absolutely disgusting, the other is aware of him speeding, they both need to be in PRISON!!”

Another user stated, “This is literally one of the most shallow things I’ve ever seen.”

One of the biggest reveals of the full-length video was Doherty’s own mother discussing his driving. Three minutes into the video, his mom shared that even before the incident, she had discussed with his friend that with the ‘way that [you] drive, is gonna have an accident.’

This particular moment shocked viewers the most, who weren’t pleased to learn his own mother was aware about his driving issues. However, shortly afterwards, the mom pleaded with the streamer to ‘take this seriously.’

Doherty also informed his mother, as seen in the video, that the roads were 'just wet’ and that’s what lead to the accident.

While the exact details of what caused the crash aren’t yet known, the big omission here is the visible use of a phone while driving, which was part of the original Kick live-stream.

In 2022 alone, 3,208 people were killed in motor vehicle crashes due to ‘distracted drivers’. According to the NHTSA, smartphone use while driving creates an ‘enormous’ potential for deaths and injuries on US roads.
