Many claim that MrBeast is 'so close' to getting it as the social media star hits out against 'disgusting' US healthcare system after his latest video helped 2,000 amputees walk again.
While YouTube sensation Jimmy "MrBeast" Donaldson is no stranger to controversy, as allegations in the past year have included slave labor and crypto scams, his vast charitable actions have contributed to his social media fame.
His Team Trees and Team Seas projects have seen widescale funding for environmental efforts, and he has previously provided assistance and food for those affected by natural disasters like hurricanes - although that somehow still landed him in hot water for some.

Some of his most well known philanthropic actions however have involved his YouTube videos where he pays for various medical procedures, like helping blind people see or deaf people hear for the first time.
The latest installment in this series sees Donaldson help 2,000 people walk again with the help of prosthetics companies like Martin Bionics, STAND, and Prosthetic One.
The video has received widespread praise with many thanking MrBeast for his charitable actions, but the creator has come out of it feeling despair for the country that he lives in.

Donaldson posted the following on X (formerly Twitter) shortly after the video went live:

"Just uploaded a video where we helped 2,000 amputees walk again. Many lived in America and it feels so disgusting that in a country with this much wealth, a fucken YouTuber is their only option to get a prosthetic leg. We need to fix this."
This is of course in reference to the largely private healthcare system that exists within the US where individuals would have to fork up thousands in order to receive treatment.
For example, for those without health insurance a prosthetic leg can range from anywhere between $10,000 to $70,000, and while that price would drop with health insurance, recent stories surrounding alleged United Healthcare CEO assassin Luigi Mangione have shown that many insurance requests are denied.
Many, therefore, can only rely on the generosity of the ultra-rich like MrBeast, which is short in supply relative to the number of people who require it.

Comments underneath the video seem to share MrBeast's sentiment too, with one pointing out that in the video, "a single person is doing what the government could not do in years."
Another adds that "if humans could organically practice these selfless acts, we would evolve as a species," and that MrBeast is a "true blessing."
Some have pointed out the disparity between Donaldson's words here and his wider actions however, pointing out: "Every like 6 months MrBeast realizes that capitalism is the root of all evil then he gets rebooted or something and goes back to torturing his friends for cash."

Others have implied that this could be a indicative of a breaking point for conversations surrounding healthcare access in America though, arguing: "If this maniac can see it and say it then we are clearly reaching some kind of public opinion critical mass on health care."
Healthcare access through government programs like Medicare could be on their last legs though as cuts pledged by Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency could target these sectors in order to raise funds and clear the country's 'unsustainable' debt.
