If you're a dedicated WhatsApp user then you must rush to install the latest iOS update on iPhones, as it's introduced a long-awaited and fundamentally game-changing feature that'll save you so much time in the long run.
There's a reason why WhatsApp is among the most popular messaging services in the world, as it's easy to use app and encrypted data give people the comfort and security they need when communicating with their friends and loved ones.
Plenty of enhancements have been brought to the app in the past few months, including upgrades to the ChatGPT functionality, the introduction of multiple account switching, and even voice note text translations, but this newly implemented function is just perfect for anyone on iPhone.

Previously, Apple's devices would only give you a limited number of apps when selecting your default messaging service, and WhatsApp unfortunately wasn't one of them.

While this isn't a huge problem for some, it can introduce some frustrating hurdles that you'll need to jump over if you're wanting to send a message or start a chat quickly on your phone.
Thankfully now though, as reported by Forbes, the latest iOS update has finally introduced the ability to set WhatsApp as your default messaging service, which should be music to the ears of anyone who religiously uses the app.

WABetaInfo spotted that this change had arrived in iOS version 25.8.10.74 on March 27, and while it's likely only available to some beta testers at the moment, it'll hopefully be there on your device in the next few days.
You could already select non-Apple applications as your default service for email and video calling, but this newly introduced change gives you far more freedom and doesn't exclude the billions of WhatsApp users worldwide.
You'll still need to manually activate the new feature yourself, but thankfully it's a super easy process that should only take you a couple of seconds when following the steps below.

First, head into the 'Settings' app on your iPhone, then find the 'Apps' section. From there, locate the 'Default Apps' option and then scroll down to 'Messaging'. You'll then be able to select between 'Messages' and 'WhatsApp', and you'll obviously want to opt for the latter if you're here in the first place.
You'll also now be able to make the same change for video and standard calls too, as while you could previously opt for other apps like Zoom or FaceTime, WhatsApp is now finally in the options that you can choose from if you want to keep everything in the one place.
