Sometimes all you need to sell a film is a title alone, and one particular X-rated cartoon has managed to confuse social media after it has received rave reviews through Rotten Tomatoes.
Oftentimes you'd think of animated movies as child-friendly, with studios like Pixar heralded for their ability to make films that appeal to all ages.
Naturally things are kept pretty PG, and while you do get the odd joke that only adults will get every now and then, it's mostly safe to chuck on for your child.

You might want to stay away from this particular upcoming flick though, as Spermageddon isn't exactly considered to be safe consumption for all audiences, despite earning itself glowing reviews from a number of high profile outlets.

The film, as you can probably guess from the title, follows the 'beginning of life' through a teenage couple's first encounter with sex. This then sprawls into a narrative that shows Simen the Semen (yes, you read that right) on the hunt for the Egg.
As reported by Variety, co-director Tommy Wirkola has described the comedy-musical as "both a road movie and an epic adventure, a most incredible journey, much like Lord of the Rings. But instead of Orcs and Elves, our heroes have to do battle with sperm-killing creams and e.Coli trolls."
This is far from the first time that Wirkola has added a adult twist to an otherwise innocent thing, as he's previously directed Violent Night - which turns Santa into a killing machine - and Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, which adds a further violent twist to the Brothers Grimm tale.
Understandably the reaction on social media has been that of shock and disbelief, with many users struggling to come to terms with the film's focus.

"Okay man that's it," decries one user in the replies to the Discussing Film post, "No one is allowed to make any more movies until we figure out what's going on."

"First trailer for what now???" another added, while others are simply unable to comprehend that this is actually a real movie that's been released.
What perhaps remains most shocking though is the largely glowing reviews that have come Spermageddon's way, with it garnering a Tomatometer rating of 86% on review-aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes.
This makes it currently higher-rated than 20% of this year's Best Picture nominees at the Oscars, so it might be one to consider for your next trip to the movie theatre, although picking it for date night might not be the best option.
