Tesla CEO Elon Musk has broken his silence following an explosion involving the company's Cybertruck vehicle, as law enforcement are currently treating the incident as a terror attack.
While there have certainly been a number of noticeable faults with Tesla's Cybertruck launch, prompting some YouTube reviewers to sell the electric vehicle shortly after getting the keys, this particular incident was nothing to do with the car itself.
Shortly after the turn of the New Year a Cybertruck, rented by the driver in Colorado, arrived in Las Vegas, and drove up to the city's branch of Trump Tower hotels.

It then began smoking and abruptly was the cause of a horrifying explosion that left the car in a bed of flames, and the footage has been shared on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter).

While law enforcement are currently treating the explosion as potentially criminal or a terror attack, there is currently no suggestion that any link is made at this point in time, as reported by the Telegraph.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has released his own statement in response to the incident on X, and has continued to comment and speculate in the hours following.
Musk revealed: "The whole Tesla senior team is investigating this matter right now. Will post more information as soon as we learn anything. We've never seen anything like this."

Shortly after he added that: "We have now confirmed that the explosion was caused by very large fireworks and/or a bomb carried in the bed of the rented Cybertruck and is unrelated to the vehicle itself."
The driver of the car was killed in the incident, and seven others suffered injuries - although these are reported to be minor.
It also appears as if the nature of the Cybertruck's construction actually limited the destructive nature of the explosion, as explained by Las Vegas law enforcement.
As the video shows, the explosion didn't seem to breach the sides of the vehicle and instead went straight up, reducing the risk of injuries in the surrounding area alongside minimal property damage.

Musk has taken great pride in this fact, declaring that: "The evil knuckleheads picked the wrong vehicle for a terrorist attack. Cybertruck actually contained the explosion and directed the blast upwards. Not even the glass doors of the lobby were broken."
The tech mogul's links to president-elect Donald Trump have been abundantly clear in the past few months especially, as Musk was a keen supporter of the Republican candidate's election campaign, which he was rewarded for with a role as lead of the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
He also drew a lot of attention in the recent budget dispute that saw the US Government close to a shutdown over the holiday period, as many saw Musk as the 'mastermind' behind retaliatory bills that cut funding for children's cancer treatments, among other key issues.
