Turns out Elon isn't the only Musk to face the fury of social media, as his mom has been levelled with criticism after claiming you should always have children even if you can't afford it.
The Musk family is no stranger to fighting their battles on social media, as Elon has famously had spats with SNL, Jimmy Kimmel, Cardi B, and even infamous hacking group Anonymous on X (formerly Twitter).
Turns out his mother is also not afraid of a bit of backlash, and she's known for giving her opinion on a wide range of topics - including what her son and President-elect Donald Trump are getting up to.

Her latest controversy, however, involves the topic of children and money, which is always a recipe for discourse, as she has elaborated on an X post that initially left her in hot water.

In quote posting her son, Musk argued: "Having children is the greatest gift in your life. When Elon was born, we were in a small two bedroom apartment overlooking a garage...
"We didn't go out for dinner nor to the movies [...] Children give you your greatest joy in the world. I never felt like I was sacrificing anything."
In this she directly argues against the notion of not having kids because you 'can't afford it', insisting that while in her eyes they didn't have a lot of money, having her three children 'added value' to her life.
She continued to fuel the flames on Fox and Friends, adding: "As you move on you start doing better and better, you don't have to go to the movies, you don't have to go out for dinner, you can just spend time with the most wonderful gifts you could ever have in children."

While some have agreed with her statements, with one X user posting: "Have children. Figure out the finances later. Don't wait." Most others have pushed back against Musk's messaging.

"It's not fair to the children who have to grow up with a poor quality of life," argues one user, whereas another points out that "food prices are still rising, I think it's fair for people to be worried!"
One commenter even offers their own 'translation' of Musk's comments: "Translation: 'You aren't supposed to enjoy your life. You aren't supposed to have things. You are supposed to struggle and keep popping out worker drones to keep enriching us billionaires. We are the only ones who get to have things and do things. Just the way God intended.'"
Although part of Maye Musk's argument purely revolves around the rewarding nature of parenting in her eyes, it is hard for many to stomach financial advice from the mother of the richest man in the world - and many are still far away from the 'struggle' of a two bed apartment that Musk's family quickly moved up from.
