The 'Shrek kissing filter' TikTok trend is the weirdest thing you'll see all day

The 'Shrek kissing filter' TikTok trend is the weirdest thing you'll see all day

A filter on TikTok featuring animated character Shrek is both watchable and odd at the same time.

We've seen some weird TikTok trends in our time - whether that's eating corn on a power drill or the seriously gross cereal challenge - but this one might take the top spot.

If you've been on TikTok recently, you might have seen users getting passionate with a familiar green character.

That's right, it's likely some of your friends have been making out with Shrek - all thanks to a new filter.

The 'Shrek kissing filter' let's you do just that - and people have been getting creative with their videos.

We've seen TikTokkers making out with the animated green ogre in all sorts of places - from their workplace to the busy gym floor.

The hashtag #ShrekKissingFilter has 4.4m views on TikTok as we speak, so it's evidently striking a chord with people.

Let's just hope Fiona hasn't caught wind of how much her husband has been going around town...

The filter was created by Ryleevigor2, whose obviously a Shrek fan - other filters they've made include one where you can turn yourself into a baby being cradled by Shrek and Fiona.

You'll need a TikTok account to get up close and personal with Shrek - all you need to do is tap the plus button at the bottom, click 'effects' and choose the magnifying glass - there you can search for the 'Kissing Shrek by Rylee' filter, select that and you're good to go.

It's been 22 years since the first Shrek film came out, and its popularity seems to be going nowhere.

Rita Ora and Taika Waititi really got into character as Shrek and Fiona.

Earlier this month, director Taika Waititi and singer Rita Ora posted a video of their trip to a secluded Scottish Airbnb property called 'Shrek's Swamp'.

That's right - the property is entirely themed around Shrek's house in the movie franchise - complete with 'Stay Out' signs around the outside.

The couple really got into character, dressing up as Shrek and Fiona and filming a video featuring some seriously questionable Scottish accents (Ora's was particularly confusing, as Fiona has an American accent in the film).

Wonder if we'll see them giving the kissing filter a go...

But Shrek fans won't have to wait too much longer for the fifth instalment of the franchise, as the film is reportedly set for a 2025 release.
