Trading the mundanities of everyday life for a week of sun is something many people look forward to year after year. But there’s not much worse than fighting for a sun lounger or hearing kids screaming as they splash into the pool and cover you in chlorine.
One couple on TikTok were able to get away from these many horrors, as they found themselves completely alone at the Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos — a swanky resort in Mexico.
Going by @freedomhustler on TikTok, Cameron filmed the lack of other holidaymakers for his 249k followers, showing employees decked out in all-white and rows upon rows of empty sun-loungers.

Sounds like bliss, right?
The TikToker and his partner thought so too, initially joking around about the fact they were the only residents. But the joke quickly stopped being funny as they realised they really were the only people staying at this resort.

In a voiceover atop eerie clips of the abandoned hotel, Cameron says you can see 'as the days progress it starts to freak us out and felt more like an episode from Black Mirror'.
Filming immaculate outside seating areas and entirely empty balconies, Cameron explains ‘you’ll start to see my camera go a little crazier as this joke turns into a little more panic’.
As he’s peering over completely empty outdoor areas with luxurious fire pits and stunning lighting, Cameron’s mind wanders to the practicalities, questioning ‘how are these fire pits being lit all day all night for us? Who is paying for all of this? This entire kingdom just for us.’

He said the employees didn’t seem worried or frantic given how empty the place was, and the service and food was ‘immaculate’.
The New York Post approached the resort about the viral video, who simply explained that they're equipped to deal with any number of guests, big or small.
Spokesperson Melissa Wisenbaker commented: “Velas Resorts operate at 100% regardless of the number of actual guests staying on property.”
Wisenbaker went on to boast of the high standard of service at the resort: “That is a staff to guest ratio of 3 to 1, versus at many other resorts that are the opposite (3 guests to every 1 staff).”

Further showing off the standards of this resort, Wisenbaker added: “Velas Resorts prides itself on offering the very best, not just when it comes to service, but food, accommodations, design, experiences, et al.”
It might’ve seemed creepy, but we’d take a completely empty hotel over one rammed full to the brim every time…
