Mark Zuckerberg has shocked fans by making a $1 million donation to the Donald Trump fund.
The Facebook co-founder donated the money that will go towards paying for the president-elect’s inauguration in the new year.
Zuckerberg is reported to have spent time with Trump at Mar-a-Lago last month and it has since been revealed yesterday (December 11) that Meta had made the large donation.

So, it seems that the pair have patched up their rocky relationship.
Zuckerberg and Trump’s rocky past
Back in 2017, Trump accused Facebook of being ‘anti-Trump’ and things only got worse when Facebook and Instagram suspended Trump’s accounts in 2021.

Earlier this year, Trump claimed that Facebook was the ‘enemy of the people’.
In a book published in September, the president-elect went as far as to claim that Zuckerberg would ‘spend the rest of his life in prison’ if he attempted to intervene with the presidential election.
However, things seemed to begin to thaw when the Meta boss told Republican lawmakers that he had regrets about bowing to pressure from the Biden administration to ‘censor’ some of the content on his social media platforms during the pandemic.
And it looks like Trump has been receptive.

During a podcast interview in October, Trump said that it was nice of Zuckerberg to be ‘staying out of the election’.
The pair even reportedly shared a phone call after Trump’s assassination attempt.
People were shocked by Zuckerberg’s donation and took to social media to share their thoughts on it.

On Reddit, one user wrote: “Mark Zuckerberg Continues Sucking Up to Trump as Meta Gives $1 Mil. to Inaugural Fund.”
Another said: “My move off Facebook months ago continues to be validated.”
A third person joked: “What government job is he hoping to get....”
And a fourth added: “All the billionaires at the top are getting along together, swapping political parties, donating to each other, hoarding wealth, laying people off etc.

“Meanwhile the voters below are arguing with each other, becoming more divided, even fighting within families. Are we sick of this yet?”
However, Zuckerberg’s relationship with the former president is nothing compared to Elon Musk.
The Tesla boss seems to be thick as thieves with Trump after supporting him in his campaign for the presidency.
And Musk has been rewarded for his efforts, having been named the head of the new Department of Governmental Efficiency (DOGE).
Despite its name, the organization isn’t actually a governmental department but will look at the federal budget from the outside.
Musk has already promised to slash federal spending by trillions in his new role.
