People are in shock at an ‘absurd’ post that was published to the official White House website.
Many couldn’t believe it was real when the site released a new statement last week (March 5).
In the note, the White House said that President Donald Trump had ‘highlighted many of the egregious examples of waste, fraud and abuse funded by American taxpayers’.

The post went on to claim that this included $8 million spent by the Biden administration on ‘making mice transgender’.
One particular line that shocked viewers read: “The Fake News losers at CNN immediately tried to fact check it, but President Trump was right (as usual).”
The White House post went on to accuse the previous government of granting millions of dollars to institutions across the country to ‘perform transgender experiments on mice’.

The post goes on to list studies that have been conducted using transgenic mice - which is where DNA is altered for the purpose of laboratory research.
In this case, the funds were used to test medication.
Many people took to social media to share their reactions to the White House post.
On X, formerly Twitter, one user wrote: “One simply can’t make this level of stupidity up. Confusing transgenic mice with transgender mice. It’d be laughable if it wasn’t so pathetic and embarrassing, coming from the WH. Then people wonder why the world is laughing at the country and lost all respect for us.”

Another said: “The White House telling people what facts are with ‘because we said so’ as the evidence, that’s textbook authoritarianism.”
A third joked: “A trans mouse wrote this.”

A fourth person commented: “Wasn't it transgenic experiments? It's common to do transgenic (change gens) experiments on mice. Transgender (change gender) is quite a surprise.”
A fifth wrote: “The administration has tarnished any reputation that the White House holds during its current term. Just a new Truth Social platform.”
And a sixth user added: “We are not a serious country.”
The reality of the research conducted using mice was to work out how treatments might affect humans, rather than making mice transgender.

One of the examples was the National Cancer Institute, which was given $299,940 by the government in 2023 in order to conduct a study comparing breast cancer rates among female mice and those receiving testosterone therapy.
Another study, conducted by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, looked into how an HIV vaccine works in mice that have received hormone therapy.
