A 'tall triangle shaped tower' has been spotted at Area 51 and Reddit is losing its mind over it.
The top-secret facility in southern Nevada has fuelled endless conspiracy theories of extra-terrestrial life and UFO ideology.
Run by Edwards Air Force Base out of California, Area 51 is heavily guarded and strictly off-limits to the public.

The US government only officially acknowledged its existence in 2013, with the CIA insisting that Area 51 is merely a US air base and nothing more.
They have repeatedly clarified that it is not a site for testing alien technology, nor does it house secret samples from UFOs. Instead, the site is used for testing out new planes and drones away from prying eyes.
However, we might be closer to getting answers than we thought. In a resurfaced interview, aviation writer Jim Goodall suggested that the secrets of Area 51 could finally be made public sometime later this year.

In the meantime, an image showing the mysterious structure resurfaced on Reddit and has people demanding answers. Naturally, theories are flying in, some presume it could be a 'phased-array radar' while others deem it an 'air traffic control tower.'

"It was built to specifically provoke theoretical conversation," one Reddit user wrote.
"I'm convinced that there was ever anything actually interesting going on at area 51 that by now it isn't anymore. It has the most public attention of any government secret site so why would they park any of the good stuff there at this point?" another replied.
"Area 51 is the facility they want you to know about so they can freely do whatever at all the black sites nobody knows about," someone else argued.
According to unconfirmed sources, the tower is a 'communication tower used for military purposes.' So, it's not as exciting as we might have hoped.

More specifically though, a conspiracy-focused website that's dedicated to uncovering the secrets of Area 51 shed light on some more details.
Describing the tower, the website read: "This new tall structure near the RCS range at the north end of Area 51 was built between Sept. 28, 2005 and January 17, 2006. It is triangular in shape, approximately 155 ft. tall and the three sides are about 30 ft. wide.
"Comparing various satellite images it appears that the tower can rotate around its vertical center axis. There are no support buildings nearby, but the proximity to the RCS rage could suggest that it is controlled from there."

Meanwhile, on a much older but similar Reddit discussion, one user found a fun little Easter egg on Google Maps: "When you try to do street view, the little orange man icon turns into a spaceship. Nice touch Google!"
Whether it’s just standard military tech or something more mysterious, the truth behind the triangle-shaped tower at Area 51 is still very much up in the air. And like most things linked to the infamous base, the mystery is what keeps people talking.
