Trump said he could have asked Elon Musk to 'drop to your knees and beg' in shocking resurfaced post

We know who wears the trousers in that relationship

Resurfaced posts have shed new light on Donald Trump and Elon Musk's relationship.

We're going to be hearing a lot more about one budding bromance over the next four years, and after Elon Musk was particularly vocal about his support of Donald Trump in the run-up to the US 2024 election, it's paid off for the SpaceX CEO.

Even though Musk is dealing with a mass exodus from the X as major media organizations claim his political bias in the election was the final straw, we don't imagine he's too fussed as he prepares for a new position in the government.

Having been appointed the co-head of Trump's new Department of Government Efficiency in an attempt to shave $2 trillion off government spending, Musk will be pretty busy for the foreseeable future.

It seems like a case of 'you scratch my back', but when it comes to who wears the trousers, a resurfaced post suggests that Musk is firmly in the pocket of 'The Donald'.

A resurfaced post from July 2022 sheds new light on their 'friendship', with many saying Trump is the one calling the shots.

Trump originally posted about Musk coming to visit him during his last term as President of the United States, writing: "When Elon Musk came to the White House asking me for help on all of his many subsidized projects, whether it’s electric cars that don’t drive long enough, driverless cars that crash, or rocketships to nowhere, without which subsidies he’d be worthless, and telling me how he was a big Trump fan and Republican, I could have said, ‘drop to your knees and beg,’ and he would have done it…"

Although Trump never says that Musk actually dropped to his knees to beg like a dog, the resurfaced post is going viral online. There’s the obvious claims that it's false, but over on Trump's own Truth Social platform that he made after being booted off X (before Musk reinstated him), you can clearly see the post is still there.

Responding to the post, someone chuckled: "Now it’s the reverse now Elon is Trump’s sugar daddy."

Another added, "The fallout will be epic, may I live to witness it," and a third said, "They'll eat each other alive very soon, I'll bet!! They're both too narcissistic and thin-skinned to tolerate each other for very long."

Other old posts are floating back to the surface, such as when Trump referred to Musk as a 'bullsh*t artist' at a 2022 rally. Trump was promoting Truth Social at the time, and in response to an article about the comment, Musk said the following: "I don't hate the man, but it's time for Trump to hang up his hat & sail into the sunset."

At one point, it even looked like Musk was leaning toward Ron DeSantis for the presidency. Things couldn’t be more different in 2024, and since the election, Trump made a joke about Musk's continued presence at Mar-a-Lago. Trump told the America First Policy Institute gala in Palm Beach: "He’s great, he happens to be a really good guy. You know, he likes this place. I can’t get him out of here." Elsewhere, famed horror author Stephen King famously referred to Musk as the 'First Lady'.

Time heals all wounds, and while neither Trump nor Musk has acknowledged what they've said about each other in the past, they're best buddies...for now.
