A robotic future is marching toward us, and like it or not, Elon Musk looks like he's at the forefront of it all.
Following the latest look at his Tesla Optimus fleet at the 'We, Robot' event, it's clear the company CEO has big plans for the future of robotics.
The Optimus showcase might be remembered for robots serving refreshments or wild theories that it's simply someone in a costume, but in the aftermath, it's the headlines that will likely put it in the history books.

As well as the I, Robot director calling our Tesla for 'stealing' designs, Musk himself has predicted that the Optimus Gen 2 will be the 'biggest product of all time.'
Discussing what he sees in the future of Optimus, Musk gushed: "We've progress dramatically, year after year, so if you extrapolate this, you're really going to have something spectacular. Something that anyone could own. You could have your own personal R2-D2/C-3PO."
He highlighted the Optimus' price point of somewhere between $20,000 and $30,000, saying that the robots will likely cost less than a car but can do 'anything you want.' Early suggestions include teaching, walking your dog, and even babysitting your kids.

Musk concluded: "It's going to be awesome, and I think this will be the biggest product ever, of any kind, yeah."
We've all heard of being optimistic, but when it comes to Optimus, Musk wants every home in the world to have one. "I think everyone among the eight billion people on Earth will want an Optimus buddy," said the tech-savvy billionaire, and if he can get anywhere near those sales, he'll be onto a winner.
Not everyone is sold on the idea of the Optimus, with one critic laughing: "That mf ain’t babysitting my kids."

Another chimed in: "The Cybertruck was going to launch at $40,000 and instead launched at $100,000 so a $30,000 robot in musk speak is really $90,000??"
A third summed up: "I will wait for the black Friday to buy it! Ten years from now." From those who aren't convinced by the price tag to those who are worried we're at the dawn of a sci-fi apocalypse, Musk looks like he's got some work to do to convince his naysayers wrong.
The idea of the Optimus Gen 2 being the 'biggest' product of all time seems pretty wild, especially as we've not exactly seen a Cybertruck on every street corner since it was released.
Despite Musk having already offered his own concerning thoughts on the future of AI, it looks like his fleet of Optimus bots are stuffed full of the stuff.

Let's just hope they stick with mowing the lawn and not turning against their human hosts.
