The most searched celebrities are often the names that you'd expect - those in the biggest films or the most well-known events, but the people at the top of Google's trending list might surprise you.
It's always fascinating when Google release their Year in Search review, revealing the most-searched topics, people, and events throughout the last 12 months, and 2024's edition has some shocks you might not expect.
Often its a way for you to see outside your bubble at what the wider world is interested in, and what you thought was popular in the past year might actually end up offering little in comparison to some other searches.

Despite not starring in a single film, TV show, or comedy special this year, it was Katt Williams that topped the actors search list for the United States.
What did send shockwaves though occurred right at the very start of the year, as Williams appeared on Shannon Sharpe's 'Club Shay Shay' podcast just three days into 2024, and it certainly sent shockwaves that are still arguably felt at the end of the year.
Williams set the tone of the interview by claiming that all lies 'will be exposed', and that 2024 would be the 'year of truth' - a fact that would certainly be revealed as the months went on.

Rounding out the rest of the top 5 included names like Jacob Elordi, Glen Powell, and Jeremy Allen White - who all starred in major events in the past year like Saltburn, Twister, and The Bear - alongside comedian Shane Gillis.
Men dominated the first eight names on the list, and it was only broken up by Ella Purnell, who starred in both Fallout and Sweetpea, and Jodie Foster, who led the newest True Detective season, rounding out the top ten.
The musicians list was far easier to predict though, with a top four that even the most culturally unengaged people could probably have a good shot at getting.
Usher's Super Bowl halftime performance earned him the top spot, and Diddy's high-profile criminal arrest has similarly dominated the news, even if it's nothing to do with his music career.

The biggest beef of the year, between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, filled out places three and four, and to cap it off it was indeed Kendrick who pipped the Toronto rapper even in the search results.
Celebrity duos is a bit of a mixed bag too, ranging from high profile couples to pop culture partnerships. Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani take the top spot, pipping Justin and Hailey Bieber to the throne.
The only other 'couple' in the top five is Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, but they're perhaps more famous right now for their pending divorce.

Additionally, Wheel of Fortune hosts Vanna White and Ryan Seacrest have proved popular in search, alongside conjoined twins Abby and Brittany Hensel who capped off the top five.
