Cruise ships are seen by many as the dream holiday, but a fierce storm on the Atlantic Ocean has made this particular journey one that the passengers won't forget.
If you're looking for a relaxing time where you can see the sights of the Earth without leaving the comfort of a sun bed, then a cruise ship holiday is definitely for you.
Some have even decided to live their whole life on a cruise ship - with some rather strange results - with others purchasing apartments on the sea for cheaper than it would be on land.

The Royal Carribbean's 'Explorer of the Seas' cruise gives over 4,000 passengers an 'adventure in a bold new light', as it takes them around many gorgeous Mediterranean locations before heading back to the USA.
An "unexpected wind gust," as described by Royal Caribbean Cruises in a statement, saw the Explorer of the Seas thrust into jeopardy, however, as the ship appeared to tilt nearly 45 degrees.
Bottles, merchandise, and food were thrown from shelves as the ship experienced this sudden movement, and one passenger has had to be treated for injuries suffered during the extreme incident.

It must have been quite the wind shift to knock the ship back though, as the captain explained to passengers that the 1,020ft ship experienced winds that jumped from 46 miles per hour to 86 miles per hour.
Passenger Jonathan Parrish detailed in an interview with CBS News that "as soon as the captain came on and made the announcement of what happened, (it) kind of gave you a sense of calmness." He continued on to state that he felt as if he was in "the best hands he could have been in."
On TikTok, thanks to user @digitalnomado, we're able to see the effects of this storm in real time, and despite assurances from the captain we wouldn't blame anyone for feeling worried.

Users on social media have expressed their fear of cruise ships in the comments, with one remarking "I did not need to see this 9 days before I leave for my first damn cruise," and another detailing that this video is "Reason #10 I will never go on a cruise."
Others have questioned the practicality of construction on cruises. "I genuinely don't understand why everything isn't bolted to the floor/wall" one user questions, while another proposes a situation where magnets are attached to everything, allowing "all furniture and items to stick to the floor."
This whole situation definitely shows the dangers you run the risk of encountering during any journey on the ocean though, despite the experience as a whole being seen as more relaxing than your traditional holiday.
Regardless though, the Explorer of the Seas is still due to arrive in Miami shortly, after a short stop in Las Palmas, Spain, to treat the individual who suffered injuries during the short storm.
