Elon Musk has given a one-word response to Jeff Bezos’ ex-wife’s $2,004,400,000 donation and it has caused a stir on social media.
The Amazon boss’ ex-wife, MacKenzie Scott, has made a number of significant charitable donations in 2024 after she became one of the world’s richest people after her divorce to Bezos in 2019.
Since then, Scott has signed the Giving Pledge, indicating her commitment to give away at least half of her enormous wealth to charitable causes.

According to Forbes, she still has a huge net worth of $32.3 billion after giving away $19.2 billion.
In 2024 alone, she donated over $2 billion to 199 organizations - one of which, Enterprise Community Partners, revealed that they received $65 million from the billionaire.
Their description read: “Our mission is to make home and community places of pride, power and belonging. We focus on the greatest need, the massive shortage of affordable rental homes, to 1) increase the supply of affordable homes, 2) advance racial equity and 3) build resilient communities and ensure upward mobility for all.”

Scott also gave $50 million to the organization Undue Medical Debt.
On her blog, Scott explained more about her donations, saying: “Roughly 75% of them are nonprofits that support the economic security and opportunity of people who are struggling by improving access to affordable housing, jobs that provide stability for themselves and their families, child development and post-secondary education, healthcare, and financial counseling, business coaching, and low-interest rate loans focused on increasing economic potential and building wealth.
“The others support well-being through other means, such as work on human rights and natural resources conservation.”

But, of course, the richest man in the world, Elon Musk - who recently became the first person in history to surpass a $400 billion net worth - had something to say about it.
Quote-tweeting a post on X, formerly Twitter, which claimed Scott had given money to causes which are ‘sewing racial division and supporting illegal immigration’, Musk responded: “Concerning.”
It comes after Musk was recently in talks to make a historic donation of $100 million to Reform, which is a controversial, right-wing political party in the UK.
As Musk isn't British, he can't legally do this, but it is believed he could use the UK arm of X to get around the law.

Politicians have called on the UK government to tighten restrictions surrounding foreign donors in light of the revelation.
