Disney's newest big budget release has faltered both critically and commercially, as while it boasts a $270,000,000 budget, it has now technically been crowned one of the worst movies of all time.
Live action remakes of animated classics certainly aren't a new trend in the world of Disney, yet their original optimistic reception has quickly faded to a place that frankly resembles resentment.
Only recently was Mufasa: The Lion King released to middling reviews, yet somehow things have got even worse for Walt Disney's entertainment behemoth with their newest effort.

Released into theaters on March 21st, this year's live action remake of Snow White has not gone down too well with audiences online, as it's received a record-low IMDB rating for a film of its scale.
As reported by Western Standard, Snow White has managed to earn itself a shockingly low 1.6/10 on IMDB at the time of writing, with over 201,000 ratings.
While this isn't the lowest of any film on the site, it is the worst for any movie with more than 107,000, which perhaps filters out a lot of the stuff that wouldn't necessarily be worth watching anyway.

Looking at the ratings breakdown, you can see that 90.5% (182,000 ratings) of users have scored the film at a 1/10, with just 2.5% (5,000 ratings) of users giving it a perfect 10.
While critics generally appear to agree with a negative reaction to the film - as Snow White is currently sitting at 42% on Rotten Tomatoes right now - perhaps a large part of the film's atrocious score is due to culture wars surrounding Disney's decision to cast Rachel Zegler as the titular character.
While many right wing commentators claimed it to be controversial that Zegler was cast, arguing that it does not 'faithfully represent' the original animated film, most critics appear to indicate that she is one of Snow White's saving graces.

Additionally, it has also earned a 74% from over 1,000 users on Rotten Tomatoes' Popcornmeter, which collates scores from audience members who have verified that they bought a ticket and saw the film - something that IMDB does not do.
The film has also performed poorly in the box office so far though, as in its opening week it has earned back just $94,712,434 of its huge $270,000,000 budget according to Box Office Mojo.
Whether Snow White manages to find a second (or perhaps first) wind and break even in the box office before it eventually makes its way to Disney+ is yet to be seen, but if IMDB ratings are anything to go by it's not proven to be a popular release for a multitude of reasons, however valid they are.
