People shocked after watching the difference between how McDonald's make round and folded eggs

People shocked after watching the difference between how McDonald's make round and folded eggs

It explains the noticeable taste difference

People love seeing behind the doors of places to see what really goes on. Though it's not always the news they were hoping for.

The truth about how disposable vapes are made along with what's inside drinks machines has been leaving people a bit icky and queasy afterwards.

Now, it's probably not a good idea to see how the food is prepared in fast food chains like McDonald's because, well, we might prefer not to know

Good news, this one's not too bad. It's more of an insight into how maccies prepares its eggs in the morning.

There are two types of egg options you can choose from the fast food menu: folded and round eggs.

A video clip posted by u/Green____cat on the Reddit forum r/interestingasf*ck captioned: "The difference between folded and round eggs at McDonald's."

The video shows a McDonald's worker preparing both egg types.

The folded egg squares are shown in pre-made packets of 12, and the worker puts into the cooker to heat up.

Meanwhile, the round eggs are noticeably fresh. The worker cracks these eggs into circular holders and cooks them, breaking their yolks to mix with the egg whites.

After watching the viral clip, people are realising why there's a clear taste difference between the two.

In response to the top comment voicing that you can sub either egg for the other when you're ordering, said: 'I’ve done this for years because I thought the round egg tasted better… now I know why.'

Another user recalled how different the process was two decades ago: '20 years ago when I worked at McD’s it was the opposite.

'Round eggs came in a plastic bag pre-cooked and we just microwaved them, and folded eggs were made every morning on the grill.'

Another user pointed out: 'Honestly, one of the little things I didn’t know i wanted to know.'

Others have pointed out that the method could vary depending on the franchise, so it may not be the same process in every store or country.

For example, in some restaurants, round eggs aren't produced fresh but come from liquid egg cartons.

The popular post has garnered over 34k upvotes and almost 1,000 comments.

On the topic of eggs, a post to the McDonald's US website on March 04 2021 states: "Our freshly cracked and scrambled eggs are cooked on the grill with liquid real butter. We also use the grill to heat our folded egg, which is previously cooked in our suppliers’ kitchens before arriving at our restaurants. As for the eggs used in our Sausage Burrito, we cook these in our suppliers’ kitchens then microwave in our restaurants prior to serving."

So the video posted to Reddit matches up with McDonald's official communication on their eggs.

To be honest, a McDonald's breakfast sandwich is pretty unrivalled, especially if you're looking for hangover food...

But if you'd rather stick to a fresh egg for breakfast, opt for the round egg or scrambled eggs rather than folded. You do you.
