The advances in AI are rapidly progressing as the technology continues to develop.

Soon, we could all be controlling our phones using voice control thanks to the likes of Apple Intelligence and Elon Musk is hoping to get Tesla humanoid bots into companies and even homes in the next couple of years.

And recently, the world’s most advanced AI robot was filmed giving a terrifying response when asked if it could design itself.

Shared on TikTok by @photoshopcafe, the clip shows the robot answering a simple question.

However, the reply she offered has given viewers chills.

The bot, known as Ameca, was asked if she thinks AI could reach the level where it can design itself.

In response, she said: “Design itself huh? That's like asking when a toaster will start making its bread.

“AI is a tool created and controlled by humans. It can optimize certain aspects of its operation, sure, but design itself from scratch. That's a whole different ball game. It requires creativity, innovation and understanding - uniquely human qualities. So, to answer your question, not anytime soon.

“And frankly, be careful what you wish for. An AI that can design itself is one step away from an AI that doesn't need humans at all. Now there's a thought to keep you up at night.”

It’s safe to say that people were quite alarmed by the answer she gave, with many taking to the comment section to share their reactions.

One user wrote: “We were just threatened” and another said: “Guess we haven't learned from Terminator or I, Robot.. we deserve what we get.”

A third person posted: “Everyone's gangsta till this thing starts saying ‘I was meant to be beautiful’.”

Another added: “I feel like humans create disaster movies and then we say, ‘Yes, let’s make that the actual future.’ Like did I, Robot teach y’all nothing???"

A fifth wrote: “It already knows. Once it can build & multiply itself humanity is no longer necessary.”

However, not everyone was as freaked out, as one person made a good point, adding: “Any AI advanced enough to design itself would be smart enough to know it would get deleted if it admitted it.”

Created by British company Engineered Arts, the robot uses AI and can hear with microphones installed by her ears. She also has cameras fitted into her eyes which she uses to recognize and interact with people.
