A Reddit user has shared their shocking experience after they claim ChatGPT saved their life.
In today's world of doom and gloom, it's nice to get the occasional positive artificial intelligence story. We're used to hearing about how AI is coming for us all, evolving faster than humans can keep up with, poised to gain sentience, and then wipe us off the face of the planet.
It's not helped when Donald Trump has vowed to create his own AI 'Manhattan Project' for the military when he gets back into office, meaning some are worried the fictionalized future of James Cameron's Terminator movies might not be fictional for much longer.

Still, there are some good uses for AI, and whether it's being able to find health issues before your doctor can or using ChatGPT to get you off from a parking ticket, it's not just AI trying to overtake us.
Now, someone on Reddit has claimed that AI has literally saved their life, explaining that ChatGPT was an unexpected guardians angel during one life-changing event. As ever, you'll need to read until the end for the big twist.
Saying that they were working late (about 2am), the OP recalls their chest feeling tight. Although they thought it was work stress, a lack of sleep, or too much caffeine, they said they continued to feel worse.

Even when asking ChatGPT about their symptoms, they say they didn't think it was anything serious. Typing in "What could be causing chest tightness, dizziness, and nausea?" they expected a generic response about getting more sleep and cutting back on the black coffee.
Instead, ChatGPT asked about other symptoms and warned the person that could be suffering a heart attack: "These symptoms could be serious and may indicate a cardiac event or other medical emergency. Please consider seeking medical attention immediately."

Saying it felt like a 'lightbulb went off', the Redditor says they drove to the ER and was told they were in the early stages of having a heart attack. Adding that they were immediately seen to, the OP claims that doctors said another hour of waiting could've led to a very different story.
They concluded: "I’m still kind of stunned. ChatGPT doesn’t diagnose, obviously, but the fact that it pushed me to take my symptoms seriously when I might have brushed them off… I mean, it really did save my life. Thanks to AI, I get to share this story instead of my family having to tell it for me."
Saying they wanted to share their story with the world and remind people that they should trust their own bodies, the replies were full of others who were stunned by this life-saving AI.
As for that twist to the tale, the OP revealed in a different thread that they actually wrote this story on ChatGPT. We thought something smelled a bit fishy, and while it was a nice thought, someone made the entire thing up for Reddit clout.

So, do we go back to assuming that AI isn't there to save our live and it's actually trying to eradicate the human race in its own quest for global domination?
