'Crazy scary' AI transforms SpongeBob characters into real people and the results are weirdly accurate

A ‘crazy scary’ AI has transformed SpongeBob characters into real people and the results are weirdly accurate.

It might not be what the tech experts had in mind when developing artificial intelligence but it looks like this is how it’s being used.

A TikToker by the name of AI Viking shared a bizarre video where SpongeBob characters were reimagined as ‘real people in real life’.

In the clip, the likes of Mr Krabs can be seen as a human man with ginger hair counting his money.

Plankton is reimagined as a villain-like character, with a pinstripe suit and slicked back hair.

Squidward is depicted as a middle-aged man with receding hair holding a clarinet.

Both SpongeBob and Patrick can be seen as humans using the AI technology, with Patrick sitting on a beach eating an ice cream in his iconic swimming trunks and SpongeBob in a shirt, tie and shorts holding a spatula.

And even Gary got the AI treatment but instead of a snail, he’s now an orange cat.

Many viewers took to the TikTok comment section to share their reactions to the video.

One user wrote: “Karen and plankton LOOK like the power villain couple.”

Another said: “Gary being an orange cat makes sense lol.”

A third person commented: “I can’t tell you why I thought Gary was a dog. He even meows and I still was surprised to see a cat here.”

A fourth wrote: “I didn't read the text on the first one, and I thought it was spongebob and wondered why he was so ripped until the last one.”

A fifth person said: “This is honestly perfect like for once it’s not some nightmarish stuff.”

And a sixth added: “Why does this make so much sense in my brain? I would watch this show.”

Although, not everyone was impressed by the tech, with one person asking: “Weren’t mermaid man and barnacle boy already humans?”

While the advances of AI certainly make for some funny content, one expert has warned that it could pose some serious risks.

Professor Geoffrey Hinton, who was awarded the Nobel prize in physics last year for his work in AI, even went as far as to say that AI could be a threat to humanity.

The expert noted that there is a ‘10% to 20%’ chance of AI wiping us out.

He said: “We’ve never had to deal with things more intelligent than ourselves before.

“And how many examples do you know of a more intelligent thing being controlled by a less intelligent thing? There are very few examples.”
