An AI trailer for Titanic 2 has hopeful fans questioning whether or not it's real.
The fake sequel trailer for James Cameron's 1997 Titanic movie was created by YouTuber KH Studio and imagines Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet reuniting on a brand-new Titanic ship.
Released as a bit of fun, the trailer uses a combination of scenes from the original movie along with scenes from the actors' other movies, such as Revolutionary Road, Inception and The Holiday.

You don't have to watch much of the trailer to realise it's been AI-generated, with a few clues from the editing and heavily airbrushed characters that barely look human. There's also a couple of giveaways, like upside-down words and unnatural character movements.

The trailer's creator also fully disclosed in the video's bio that it was 'created solely for artistic and entertainment purposes.' They wrote: "I have meticulously incorporated various effects, sound design, AI technologies, movie analytics, and other elements to bring my vision to life.

"Its purpose is purely artistic, aiming to entertain and engage with the YouTube community. My goal is to showcase my creativity and storytelling skills through this trailer."
The creative YouTuber has done a couple of other sequel trailers too for big hit movies, including a reimagined Edward Scissorhands starring Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya and one for Interstellar 2 that sees the return of Matthew McConaughey.
The Titanic 2 trailer has racked up 1.7 million views so far, and has fans questioning what's real.
"The way this popped up in the built in news feed on my phone made me think it was real for a sec, I'm being fed lies and will never trust a single thing I see from now on," wrote one viewer.

"I'm laughing at how many people actually think this could be real. These are clips from other movies they've made. It's just a fun edit," another added.

"You got me so bad w this one," someone else admitted whilst one hopeful fan replied: "I wanted it to be real as much as I knew it didn’t make sense."
In February, KH Studio posted another Titanic trailer that stars AI versions of Tom Holland and Anya Taylor-Joy in a dramatic reboot-style film.

As AI tools get better and more accessible, these kinds of creative edits and 'what if' trailers are probably only going to become more common. Still, it's impressive to see how content creators are utilising the technology to see just how well AI can pull it off.
So, if you see your favourite stars returning in a supposed sequel that seems too good to be true - it probably is.
