People left shocked after noticing thing they can't un-see about Minecraft torches

People have been left shocked after noticing something they can’t un-see about Minecraft torches.

Fans of the video game will know that there are multiple torches that can be built to provide light, including using different colors.

However, there is a particular detail that users are realizing about one torch and it’s ‘ruining’ their lives.

Everyone knows that you need one lump of coal and one stick to make a simple torch in Minecraft.

If you’d rather have a redstone torch, you just need to swap out the coal for one redstone dust.

This gives you a red glowing torch but on further inspection, it’s not quite what it seems.

One user took to Reddit to share what they had noticed about the tool.

They posted: “Am I the only one that just realized that redstone torches are just normal torches with a red ring around them?”

Sharing two images of the torches, fans quickly realized that they were actually both the same, with the redstone torch having a small red ring around an otherwise normal looking torch.

People were shocked at the revelation, with many taking to the comment section to share their reactions.

One person wrote: “No… it’s… it’s supposed to be different colors, it… it has to be! It has to be!!”

Another said: “No. No no no no no no no! Stop! I want to go back! I WANT TO GO BACK!!”

A third commented: “My life is ruined because of this post.”

While a fourth person added: “Now it feels weird that you don't need a torch to craft a redstone torch.”

However, one user had a practical theory behind it, saying: “Nifty little illusion, isn't it?

“You can see the same sort of illusion when you look at a lot of images of lightsabers: the glow off the blade can be red, blue or green, but if you color select from the center of any blade, you'll see they're all white in the middle. It's a useful effect that makes the colors appear brighter and more luminous.”

Another person added: “Color theory gets me again…”

Color theory could be the reason why people haven’t noticed how similar the torches are.

The theory states that the color red is about attention, demanding its audience to stop and look.

This might be why Minecraft fans only notice the red in the redstone torch, and don’t see the yellow and orange hidden in the middle.
