Fans did not get the announcement they were hoping following Nintendo's drop yesterday.
Instead of revealing the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2, the Japanese gaming giant announced something entirely different (and completely unexpected) - an alarm clock.
Alarmo is an interactive alarm clock that supposedly lets users set a time and wake up to the sound of 35 scenes from across five Nintendo titles.

Apparently, you can set your theme to either Super Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 3, Ring Fit Adventure, Pikmin 4, or The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Essentially, it's an alarm that wakes you up to the sound of Mario coins being collected and various theme tunes.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing: New Horizons are also set to be added to the selection of soundtracks in a free update coming soon.

But let’s be honest, most of us hit the snooze button anyway, so waking up to those sound effects might just annoy you even more in the morning.
Following the reveal, people have been venting their frustration on the internet forum Reddit.
"Nintendo is really doing ANYTHING but giving us switch 2 info," one user said.
Others chimed in about how annoying the alarm could quickly become: "but seriously, this is like setting your favorite song as your alarm… you’ll grow to hate it."

Another exclaimed: "I cannot imagine waking up happy on a Monday morning with the sound of a bunch of coins and “WAHOOS"."
Someone else remarked: "Absolutely crazy that they’re launching new hardware with all the Switch 2 rumours and anticipation and it’s an alarm clock lmao."
One cool thing about the device is its motion sensor that 'reacts to your body's movement with game sounds' and will turn itself off if it knows you have gotten up.

The price however is not as exciting with a hefty price tag of $99.99 which is pretty steep for an alarm clock - even if it does feature game sounds.
Nintendo has also been in news headlines this week after leaks of the Nintendo Switch 2 surfaced online.
Many fans complained about the button positions and overall discomfort with the design.
So, while an official announcement could have cleared up some of the leaks and gotten fans hyped, an alarm clock definitely wasn’t what anyone was expecting. Will you be giving the Nintendo-style wake up a go? We certainly wouldn't mind.
