Nearly a decade after its debut, Kim Kardashian is bidding farewell to her role-playing mobile game, taking it off the shelves.
Showcasing Kardashian's own rise to fame, the game involved players climbing from the E-List to the A-List, a journey that resonated with many.
The game, 'Kim Kardashian: Hollywood,' launched in 2014 pulling in $700,000 a day only months after its launch.

By 2016, the wildly successful mobile game app has amassed almost 16 billion minutes of gameplay.
Players could gather fans, money, and experience by completing many tasks such as booking modelling gigs, making club appearances, dating, and taking up acting jobs.
It also featured appearances from other members of the Kardashian family including Khloe Kardashian and Kris Jenner.

Its innovative gameplay and the allure of celebrity life helped it become an instant sensation among players.
While the game itself is free to play, players could enhance their experience by purchasing clothing, accessories and energy with in-game currency called ‘K-stars'.
Alternatively, players could stick with the free method by watching ads.
However, in a recent update on a user forum, Glu Mobile declared the discontinuation of the game. Players were alerted with a message reading that the game 'no longer offers in-app purchases and has been removed from app stores.'

Players with the game already installed can continue playing until April 8 2024, although it will become inaccessible to all after this date as the servers will shut down. Currently, the developers are not allowing new installs and sign-ups.
Additionally, developers inform VIP subscribers that they will have to cancel their subscriptions manually.
'Kim Kardashian: Hollywood' has been removed from both the Apple App Store and Google Play store.

The game has been downloaded approximately 45 million times since 2016, generating a total of $160 million in revenue, earning the American socialite $45 million as a result.

Developed by Glu Mobile, a company that was acquired by Electronic Arts in 2021, the game has been a benchmark in celebrity-themed mobile gaming since its launch. Other celebrities have been inspired to create copycat games including Taylor Swift, Britney Spears, Katy Perry, and Nicki Minaj.
