Screens are part of our daily lives - whether gaming, movies or our jobs. It's hard to avoid them.
It's no surprise when endless scrolling apps like TikTok are designed to keep people on the app for prolonged periods of time.
Now, they're even seeping into our personal relationships.

So, maybe we're spending too much time on them.
A global study found that the average person's screen time is six hours and 58 minutes.
This breaks down into 2 hours and 23 minutes of scrolling through social media channels, 1 hour and 25 minutes of streaming music, and 49 minutes of listening to podcasts.
And the majority of this time - about 3 hours and 50 minutes - is spent on mobiles.

While it might seem a bit low for those of us who sit in front of a screen for eight hours a day at our 9-5 jobs, it's quite startling that we spend a quarter of our days - almost a third of our waking hours - glued to screens.
They are by our side in both our professional and personal lives as reflected by one individual.
'Work all day staring at a screen > sit on the couch all night staring at 2 screens intermittently. Even working out I'm likely to be looking at a screen,' they commented.

Many people were unsurprised by the figure, realising that there's always nearly a screen involved in our daily activities.
One pointed out our reliance on our digital devices, writing: 'Dude, some of us, it's the first thing we see in the morning and the last thing we turn off at night. And then we're in front of it for 8 hrs a day for work.'
Another person pondered: 'Compared with how much sleep time, I wonder.'

Some took to a Reddit discussion thread to candidly share their personal averages.
One restrained individual remarked: '27 minutes a day!! I am practising keeping a low screen-time, and I am succeeding so far.'
Others admitted to less disciplined habits, with one saying: '35 hours the last week, 5 hours per day, iP7+.' and another revealing: '12hr35min a day. 88hr9min for the week. I’m a stay at home dad. While the kids are in school I’m on my phone.'
Reaching a total of '13 hours/day, 91 hours/week on average' one dedicated tech user claimed to have found their statistic 'pretty eye-opening...'

Whatever your view, I think we can all agree we need to spend less time in the digital world.
