It's pretty much common knowledge by now that the best new smartphone features tend to come to gaming phones first.

Take the new RedMagic 9 Pro, the latest in a pretty long line of gaming phones from RedMagic, which is being described as 'the smartphone from 2030'.

It has some wild features you won't see in more mainstream phones for absolutely ages - since they're not exactly cost-effective.

The phone features an unbelievable display, for one thing, with a truly edge-to-edge design that has almost no bezels to speak of (those are the black gaps around the edge of a screen).

Even more wild, though, are the RedMagic 9 Pro's cameras, which take a huge leap forward compared to what we're used to, as demonstrated by hugely successful tech YouTuber JerryRigEverything in a recent video.

He takes apart a sample of the phone with his usual techniques, breaking it down to show viewers how it's built and how rugged its various materials are before they commit to buying one for themselves, reserving special praise for how RedMagic has arranged the phone's cameras.

The biggest innovation is one that has appeared before, but is incredibly rare - an under-display camera. This replaces the notch or punch-out selfie cameras we've become used to in recent years.

Instead, it houses a camera beneath the display, one that can filter out the layers in front of it to still photograph and video you as normal, while being basically invisible to the naked eye - unless you know what you're looking for.

The RedMagic 9 Pro has probably the most invisible camera we've ever seen, which makes it hugely desirable in a world of annoying breaks in phone screens for selfie cams.

On the back of the phone, the good work continues, since the phone features no camera bumps at all, instead being a little thicker to accommodate some crazy gaming specs, with its cameras completely flush - another feature we'd love in our current smartphone.

That's a pair of really welcome innovations, but there's loads more detail in JerryRigEverything's full video, so be sure to check it out if you want to learn more about the phone's specs and capabilities - which are stirring up a lot of hype in the comment section.

"I really hope more phone makers adopt the 'no camera bump' trend. It makes phones look incredibly sleek, and the all-screen front gives off a futuristic vibe," one YouTuber wrote under the video.

Another said: "This truly looks like something from the future. Love to see smartphone designs still being pushed in ways that matter."

Of course, these kinds of incredible features don't come cheap - and the RedMagic 9 Pro will set you back an eyewatering $649 (£579).
