A horrifying video of a phone under a microscope shows just how disgusting your smartphone really is.
We take our smartphones everywhere with us, whether it's on the public transport, placed down at a restaurant table or even by our pillows at night - the device is never far from our hands.
But how often do you wash your phone? No, that isn’t a trick question because it turns out they actually get a lot dirtier than we might have realized.

One clip has gone viral after it shows just what is lurking on our smartphones from under a microscope.
The video shows someone performing an experiment where they play a phone under the microscope to get a closer look.
Zooming on the screen and the speaker at the top of the gadget, tiny bugs can be seen crawling around.
They also show how bacteria gets transferred from the phone to our hands.

How do you clean your smartphone?
According to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), this is the proper way to clean your device.

First, it’s important to unplug the device before you start cleaning and then use a lint-free cloth which has been slightly dampened with soap and water.
They advise against using spray cleaners directly onto the device and it’s best to avoid aerosol sprays and cleaning solutions that contain bleach or abrasives.
Make sure to keep liquids and moisture away from any openings on the device.
