Alexa has gradually replaced the art of searching the internet for things ourselves.

Instead of simply reaching for our phones to check the weather - or heaven the window - we ask 'Alexa, what's the weather like today?'.

Throughout the day, Alexa is asked tonnes of various questions from 'Alexa, what's on at the cinema?' to statements like 'Alexa, I love you” - which was said more than 15 million times in 2022.

Amazon knows what we're curious about and has revealed the top question asked to Alexa in 2023, covering everything from the ordinary to the down-right weird.

Amazon categorised the top requests into Sport, Height, Age, and Recipes.

Most popular queries were on us noseying into celebrities' lives. People collectively queried about the heights of Lionel Messi and Tyson Fury, the ages of Elton John and David Attenborough, and who Jennifer Lopez is married to. Not to forget the question of Elon Musk's net worth - which is something I imagine many of us are curious about.

Recently, Google confirmed its most royally searched question of 2023 - pun intended. And Alexa's most popular questions matched this with 'When is the King's coronation?' and 'How old is King Charles?'

Elsewhere, sports fans commonly asked: 'Alexa, what's the score?'. Northern Brits held the top with specific questions on the scores of Liverpool and Manchester United.

While football dominated the Sports category, other queries revolved around cricket, Grand Prix and Wimbledon.

When the blockbuster movies Barbie and Oppenheimer hit the cinema, you can imagine Alexa was intensely quizzed.

With loaded questions prior to watching the movie, Amazon's smart assistant was asked: 'Alexa, what's the Barbie movie about?' and 'Alexa, how long is the Oppenheimer movie?'

Additionally, when it came to requests, Alexa users agreed on 'Sing Happy Birthday', just ahead of other requests for Alexa to beatbox and sing a song about dogs.

From the weird to the even weirder, Britons requested things like 'Alexa, insult me' and 'Alexa, say a rude word' to 'Alexa, self-destruct'. This is to the extent that there's a whole category based on fart requests to Alexa.

On the culinary front, Alexa received many requests from Brits for Yorkshire puddings recipes, topping last year's most popular requested recipe of pancakes.

Some unusual - yet fancy - recipe request also made the list including hot-smoked salmon, and lentil and pomegranate salad.

Meryem Tom, Alexa UK & Ireland Country Manager, responded to the top questions: 'From the more meaningful, to the mundane and the downright quirky, "Alexa's Most Asked Questions" provides another fascinating snapshot of how customers in the UK use Alexa to learn, get help with tasks or ask for some quickfire entertainment.'
