The YouTuber hoped to double his money

A man spent $4,595 on a giant pallet of Apple returns in the hopes that he could make a profit by reselling the items.

YouTuber Harrison Nevel documented the experience for his channel after buying what claimed to be nearly $10,000 worth of Apple products from a liquidation website.

The items had all been previously returned and Nevel unboxed them to see what was inside before taking them to pawn shops in an attempt to turn a profit.

In the video, he said he would try to resell the stuff to see “how much money we potentially made or lost”.

Inside the mystery boxes were iPads of different generations and storage space.

Nevel said: “We have five of them that are worth $600 new, now I would be happy if we could maybe pull half of that, maybe a little less than half out of that, so we're talking maybe $200 to $300 a piece cuz we can get $200 of each of these - that's $11,000 right there.”

However, things didn’t quite go to plan when Nevel began trying to sell the returned iPads, receiving just $80 each for two of them at a pawn shop.

Another shop refused to buy an iPad altogether because it was locked with a passcode, rendering it useless.

When Nevel made an attempt to sell this using an automatic device seller, the machine offered him just $35.

The YouTuber ended up making $3,750 from the unwanted Apple products, which is a whopping $845 less than what he paid for them.

In the video, he continued: “We're probably in a little bit of a negative but that's why nobody bought the box off of that website and why we're here to take the risks.”

Surprised by how little Nevel had made from the items, viewers took to the YouTube comment section to share their thoughts.

One user wrote: “$80 for an iPad?! That's an insane low ball offer I would have refused,” prompting someone to reply with, “yep then they're gonna turn around and sell them for $300-$400 I guarantee”.

Another said: “Dang wasn’t expecting that much in the red.”

A fourth posted: “Thank you for actually charging the iPads to make sure they work! I get so annoyed when some just assume it's broken. You got ripped off by that pawn shop.”

And a fifth person joked: “This was the ultimate iPad kid unboxing.”
