Crowd's reaction to Steve Jobs revealing first ever iPhone features has everyone saying the same thing

Steve Jobs unveiled the first iPhone way back in 2007.

The moment Steve Jobs first revealed the iPhone has taken on an almost mythical status - marking the arrival of one of the most influential bits of tech ever created.

It's also one that was thankfully captured on video, so we can watch it back to see just how Jobs delivered his presentation.

A recent re-post of one section of the presentation has gone viral this week, showing Jobs as he demonstrates how to unlock the phone, enter the iPod app and then find music to listen to.

The video is a great showcase of how clear a communicator Jobs was on-stage. He starts by showing how you unlock the phone, with a quick swipe, then goes into the iPod app.

When he really shows this swiping action - navigating through the app with his finger - that the audience is audibly amazed, and breaks out into rapturous applause and cheers.

With this kind of response, you get the impression that onlookers had some sense that they were looking at a relatively revolutionary device - and it's got modern viewers all thinking the same thing.

One response read: "It was really so exciting!! We have come a LONG WAY!", while another commented: "It's been a long journey so far with the innovations."

This feeling that we've come along in leaps and bounds since the iPhone was debuted back in 2007 is being echoed left, right and center, with another reply saying: "Can you imagine. iPhone has come a long way", and another reading: "It’s been a long ride since then".

And they're right - the first iPhone looks pretty rudimentary compared to the models we're used to using today.

Even the iPod app that Jobs opens up is quaint considering the equivalent has been called simply 'Music' for years, now, even if many of its features work similarly.

Still, some of the fundamentals of app layouts and navigation actually haven't changed all that much, including the buttons at the bottom of the screen and a list you can scroll through - underlining just how effective Apple's first run at touch-screen design really was.

This year, we're set to get the iPhone 16 - and we're already hearing rumors around what the iPhone 17 might bring in 2025, which could see a massive upgrade to its display.
