Sometimes when weird things happen, the best thing to do is ask the big world wide web for answers.
Particularly, if it's something to do with your smartphone.
One Reddit user recently reached out to the online community asking about a 'yellow, dry glue like thing' coming from their iPhone 11.

The picture shows the Apple device with a green-yellowish playdough like substance coming out the top corner.
The comments have dispersed trying to solve the mystery.
Some opinions suggested that it could be something external to the iPhone, with one Redditor remarking: 'Looks like your kid stuffed playdough in there'.

The OP mentioned that 'the screen and battery were replaced at an Apple Store around a year ago now ' hinting that it could be a sealant that was used.
However, one user replied countered this by saying that the sealant is usually the 'same colour as the screen frame it goes on.' They continued that there's only an option between 'white and black, so it's neither.' Instead, the user believes it could be that 'something external has gotten caught or dried in it.'
Meanwhile, another Redditor observed that the iPhone looks like it had a 'third party repair done and the shop used a weirdly colored glue to put the screen back into the frame.'
Though the OP responded that the Apple device hasn't been anywhere near children's reach.

Another guessed that it could be related to the battery, noting: 'If you’re certain it is coming out of your phone, I‘d say it might be some sort of (oddly colored) adhesive from having the battery replaced.
They continued to reassured that the user should 'have it checked out by whoever replaced the battery and you’ll be fine.'
Another jokingly replied with: 'iSlime' whilst others humorously informed the OP to 'call Ghostbusters'.

Other users have described seeing a similar thing happen to their smartphone devices, with one saying: 'Got the same thing but from my camera (XS.) the actual glass part of the lens popped off and I saw it peeking out.' They went on to say that they couldn't take it out and resorted to and 'tucked it in there with a little file.'
Even with all the comments, it seems no one has been able to identify what the substance actually is, to the point that some comments are asking for an update on the identity of the substance.
Until then, the mystery continues.
