Latest iPhone update finally fixes annoying Calculator problem that left users without 'key feature'

Making quick calculations is suddenly much easier again

Somehow a change in your iPhone's calculator app became one of Apple's most controversial decisions in recent memory, but all is now well again after the latest update reverts things back to normal.

There's so much to do on your iPhone with thousands of apps at your finger tips. Whether it be your favorite social media platforms, a whole host of mobile games, or countless educational tools, Apple have jam packed their phones with things to keep us busy all day long.

However, it turns out that the simple calculator remains one of the most important parts of any smartphone, and people seem to get quite angry when things get changed about.

We've seen people previously praise Apple for adding the much-requested backspace button to the app, and many have shared their embarrassment after realizing that the app stores your past calculations, but one recent change took out a feature that many use on a daily basis in order to save time.

It doesn't have a flashy name or any specific button, but one of the most common inputs for many was to use the equals sign to duplicate the most recent calculation, saving you from having to put it all in again if you're doing repeated actions.

For example, if you did 5x10, pressing the equals button once would give you 50, whereas pressing it again would give you 500, and again would give you 5,000, and so on.

It was an easy way to see repeated chains of calculations if you needed to do that specific action, but for some reason Apple binned the feature with no word as to why.

This caused an uproar in the supposed calculator community, with countless users demanding that the feature is reinstated to their iPhones.

"Why, just why. Calculator is the most f****** basic app and they found a way to make it more annoying," remarked one user on a Reddit thread about the news, whereas another added: "It's something I didn't realize I used so much until they removed the feature."

You'll be glad to know then that with the arrival of iOS 18.3 the feature is once again back, as reported by 9to5Mac, letting you repeat calculations to your heart's content.

It goes to show that if you make enough noise about something - even if it is seemingly the most inconsequential feature - there's a good chance that Apple might listen and set things right.
