Find My Friends is easily one of the best iPhone features out there.

From making sure that your friends get home ok to checking that your parents haven’t gotten too lost on their city break, most of us would be lost without the app.

But when used in an already toxic relationship, Find My Friends can be catastrophic.

One woman claims to have experienced this firsthand, confiding in Reddit about her recent breakup that she says was triggered by a Find My Friends glitch.

On the r/iphone subreddit the user explained that after sharing her location with her boyfriend indefinitely six months ago, he got a notification that she’d just started sharing her location with him again.

The suggestion that she turned off her location for a while must’ve sent her boyfriend’s head spinning, because he swiftly ended the relationship, claiming he could no longer trust her.

My first thought reading this was she’s well rid, and I wasn’t alone.

The Reddit user herself says she “dodged a bullet” and other users had similar feelings, with one writing “good for you, you’re free now”.

Others questioned their entire relationship if something so minor was able to end it with one user writing “He never trusted you. Ever”.

Another shared their positive experiences with the app, “started sharing locations with my partner recently. We've been together for 2 years. Can't imagine doing this six months in and also being questioned about it. Run for the hills”.

This user’s story triggered others to share similar experiences with the location-sharing app.

One user explained how an early edition of Find My Friends was the start of the end of his relationship.

Back in the days of 2G, this user had gone downstairs to sleep on the sofa after having back pain.

Their wife woke up to an empty bed, and instinctively checked Find My Friends, which showed her partner in another neighborhood.

She accused her partner of cheating with a neighbor, despite their adamant denials. The user claims that “this led to distrust on her part, and then she cheated on me with a coworker” ending in divorce.

Several commenters appear to have experienced the same glitch, but everyone is stumped as to why it happened.

One said ‘I’ve seen it a few times on mine with a couple friends’ and another shared “my husband and I share location indefinitely and just yesterday my husband got a notification that I stopped sharing location but I didn’t touch anything.”

No one seems to know how, why or how many people it’s happened to, but watch out, it could put a real downer on your relationship. iPhone, sort it out.
