iPhone users praise Apple for 'finally' adding important feature to the Phone app

Fans say it'll save them from making accidental calls

iPhone users are praising Apple for ‘finally’ adding an important feature to the Phone app that they’ve wanted for years.

Apple fans have been excited for the release of iOS 18, which was made available last month.

It was announced during the firm’s ‘Glowtime’ event that also saw the announcement of the iPhone 16 and the Apple Watch Series 10.

The operating system update has brought a lot of new features and upgraded functions to the iPhone.

These include things like the ability to customize your lock screen like never before and also to schedule messages to send at a later time.

However, there’s another exciting addition to the phone that makes it easier to find what you’re looking for in your call history.

Now, thanks to new capabilities on iOS 18, there’s an easy way to search through your call history with a brand new search bar available in the Phone app.

Before the update, the app was a running list of recent calls that had been made to and from your iPhone.

In order to find someone who had called you, you’d need to scroll through until you found them.

But there is now a search bar at the top of the Recents page in the app that you can use to search up a call in a few different ways.

You could type in the contact’s name or their number, or you could type in the date to bring up calls from that day.

Similarly, you’re able to simply type in ‘August’ to bring up all of the calls and voicemails from that month.

Fans of the update are over the moon with this new feature, with one person taking to Reddit to share an image of the new look.

In the caption, they wrote: “New recent calls look with search bar.”

Users were quick to react to the change, with one simply typing: “YES.”

Others shared their woes over mishaps they’d had with the old layout, with another person writing: “The amount of times I accidentally dialed someone on that screen.”

And they weren’t alone, with another adding: “Finally. No more accidental calls.”

In other iPhone news, users are now able to customize the widgets that appear on their lock screen.

Previously, the phones only had the Flashlight function and Camera app available to access while the device is locked.

Now though, you can choose what apps you want to personalize the display with.
