The tech giant has given iPhone fans a secret upgrade for their flashlight with the iOS 18 roll out.

Apple unveiled their new operating system update last month that will come with a lot of new features for users.

The new additions include a complete revamp of Siri where the virtual assistant will become the ultimate AI tool.

There will also be other changes to the phone, where users will finally be able to customize their home screen by moving apps and widgets around on the screen.

However, while the company has made some huge announcements about the upcoming changes, there’s one update they've been very quiet about.

A little-known upgrade to the flashlight feature means that we'll have more control with it than ever before.

While we have been able to adjust the brightness on four different settings for some time, with iOS 18 we’ll be able to completely control how just how bright it is and we will be able to shift the focus too.

The Public Beta verison of iOS 18 is available to try now and people giving it a go have discovered that they can change the angle of the flashlight.

You can adjust the focus and brightness at the same time by opening the function and sliding your finger up and down or side to side.

This means we can finally control where the brightness of the light is aimed at - although, we’ve been fine doing it the old fashioned way of tilting the phone to aim the flashlight where we need it to be.

Still, the update is a cool new addition to the phone’s functions.

Apple’s iOS 18 will officially drop in the fall and other exciting features include the introduction of Apple Intelligence and call recording.

Speaking about the upcoming changes, Apple's software chief Craig Federighi said: “This is AI for the rest of us. Personal intelligence you can rely on at work, home and everywhere in between.

“This is the beginning of an exciting new chapter of personal intelligence. Intelligence built for your most personal products: your iPhone, iPad and Mac.

"Intelligence grounded in the things that make you, you and intelligence available to you system-wide so that you can get things down in a way that works for you. We are just getting started and I hope you are as excited as I am for the road ahead.”
