How Apple's upcoming iOS 18 Apple Intelligence update will change the way you use your iPhone

How Apple's upcoming iOS 18 Apple Intelligence update will change the way you use your iPhone

Here's what is in store for Apple fans as they are set to get an AI phone

Apple’s event next week is set to shed some more light on what we can expect from the upcoming iOS update.

One major upgrade coming to iPhones is the introduction of Apple Intelligence, which will change the way we use our devices.

The new AI will be available soon and the tech giant promises that it’s going to transform how we use smartphones.

As part of the revamp, Siri is also getting a whole new set of functions.

So, what actually is Apple Intelligence?

Apple Intelligence refers to all of the AI tools and capabilities in the iPhone and it’ll be first made available with the release of iOS 18.1, which is expected to drop later in the year.

Some of the functions include Image Playground, which will allow you to create your own animated images.

There will also be a custom emoji called Genmoji.

Siri will be integrated with ChatGPT to give the virtual assistant a richer language understanding as well as taking on more vocal commands.

However, in order to access Apple Intelligence, you’ll need to have an iPhone 15 or later as the feature won’t be available on older models.

How will it change the way I use my phone?

Enabling Apple Intelligence will change a lot of ways you use your device.

First off, Siri will take on tasks by using vocal commands.

You’ll have access to a summarizing tool for emails and you’ll also be able to record and transcribe phone calls.

All in all, you can expect a smoother experience from using your iPhone.

Do you have to have Apple Intelligence?

If you’re unsure about using the AI feature then you don’t have to have it enabled on your device.

The new iPhone 16 is set to be announced next week and if you’re planning on upgrading an older model, you don’t have to opt-in to Apple Intelligence in order to do so.

There will be a toggle in the settings, so if you’re not happy with it, you can simply turn it off.

Speaking at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) earlier this year, Apple CEO Tim Cook said: “We’re thrilled to introduce a new chapter in Apple innovation. Apple Intelligence will transform what users can do with our products — and what our products can do for our users.”

He added: “And it can access that information in a completely private and secure way to help users do the things that matter most to them. This is AI as only Apple can deliver it, and we can’t wait for users to experience what it can do.”
