According to Apple, AirPods Pro will now have an ‘innovative over-the-counter Hearing Aid capability for users with mild to moderate hearing loss’.
On the website, it explains: “Using the personalized hearing profile from the Hearing Test, this new feature seamlessly transforms AirPods Pro into a clinical-grade hearing aid. After setup, the feature enables personalized dynamic adjustments so users have the sounds around them boosted in real time.
“This helps them better engage in conversation, and keeps them connected to the people and environment around them. With the incredible audio quality of AirPods Pro, the user’s personalized hearing profile is automatically applied to music, movies, games, and phone calls across their devices, without needing to adjust any settings.

“Users can also set up the Hearing Aid feature with an audiogram created by a hearing health professional.”
Apple CEO Tim Cook took to X, formerly Twitter, to share the news, posting: “We’re incredibly proud to introduce a first-of-its-kind Hearing Aid feature, coming this fall with AirPods Pro 2, plus an innovative way to detect signs of sleep apnea with Apple Watch. These life-changing tools will help people connect more deeply & live healthier.”
Excited by the news, people took to the comment section to share their reactions, with many commenting on how much cheaper the AirPods are than hearing aids.
One user wrote: “Great work, team! Truly, very amazing democratization of expensive hearing aid equipment. Bravo!”

Another said: “Looking forward to this as a person who wears hearing aids and pays a kidney for them every few years (don't ask where the kidneys come from).”
A third person commented: “This is honestly amazing. I wear hearing aids and they cost $3000. $249 feels way better.”
And a fourth added: “This is a great example of technology enhancing everyday life. Apple continues to lead in making health more accessible and integrated into our daily routines.”
